The Mistakes That Shaped Me Podcast

Real leadership lessons from real mistakes

We’re often told to forgot our failures and focus on the good stuff. Yet in doing so, we risk missing out on the richest experiences and lessons that truly shape who we are and pave the way for the successes to come.

Brought to you by Ashton Media, The Mistakes That Shaped Me podcast invites industry leaders to put their myriad of successes aside and share a mistake or misstep that helped shape the leader they are today and the many wins that followed.

How does it work?

The structure of the podcast explores the same set of questions with our amazing guests, think BBC’s Desert Island Disks for senior leaders. Broadly speaking we follow the following structure…

Question 1 – an easy start

How would your children / mum / partner describe what you do?

Question 2 – intro to the moment

How did you find the selection process for your moment? | What didn’t make the cut?

Question 3 – the main bit

Talk us through the moment you selected, and how it impacted you.

Question 4 – what did it teach you?

What should emerging leaders focus on to avoid the same fate?

Question 5 – a final thing

What person or leader has had a big impact, either positive or negative, on you and why?

Question 6 – bonus question

Who should we speak to next?

Someone you know who you imagine has a great moment to share?

Are you a senior leader interested in taking part?
