Kate Youngis Head of Customer Centricity & Capability at ANZ and has been with the banking group for over five years. Young started with ANZ as Head of Consumer Finance Marketing in 2016 and was promoted to her current role in 2019.
Young is driving cultural change at ANZ by putting customers at the heart of all her work. She is passionate about bringing together cross-functional, enterprising purposeful teams using a customer-centric perspective.
Acting as a futurist for the ANZ marketing team, Young’s remit is to ensure the bank has a clear roadmap that outlines the capability required for future success. She ensures teams are future-ready and proofed through up-skilling and reskilling programs. In this leadership role, she takes responsibility for fostering the mindset, foresight and capability required to be a globally competitive marketing team.
Since joining ANZ, Young has been instrumental in developing and implementing the bank’s Marketing Masters and Brand Academy capability programs; which help marketers reach their full potential and set them up for future growth.
In a broader sense, her purpose is to inspire people to believe they are more powerful and capable than they think they are. She values courage, independence, and making a difference. These values shine through the work she does with ANZ’s Positive Action Towards Career Engagement(PACE) Program. This involves mentoring a person with a disability and helping them build life skills so they can be workforce ready.
A strategic marketing and capability building professional with over 20 years of experience, Young has worked across industries including financial services, retail property management, health and wellbeing, hospitality and tourism. Her expertise spans B2B, B2B2C and B2C roles in large organisations, including Westfield, GE Capital and AIA Australia, making her a sought-after podcast guest and conference speaker. She is also a judge in B&T Awards, the country’s biggest awards for the advertising, marketing, and media industries.
With a Bachelor of Business, Marketing from Victoria University, Young has a strong track record in building new business models, propositions, segmentation and marketing strategies that deliver strong commercial returns and exceptional customer experiences. In addition,she has deep experience in learning and capability building, applying thisexpertise in large, multinational organisationstodeliver programs that drive significant uplift in people capability.
