Amid ongoing economic uncertainty and volatility, organisations are keenly aware of the need to scale or pivot at any moment. This is only possible by having the right skills within a workforce – and there is currently a critical shortage of the existing skills needed.
Never, then, has L&D been more critical to the success and even the survival of organisations. As LinkedIn observes in its latest workplace learning report, “what is agility if not constant learning?” Creating a culture of learning, with L&D at the centre of company culture, is vital.
But L&D leaders face challenges, despite the criticality of their function. Budget cuts, economic uncertainty, and the difficulty in demonstrating a rapid ROI are all making it difficult to get buy in and implement the best programs and technology. Workforces can’t be upskilled overnight.
To identify the priorities and challenges for L&D in 2023, we spoke with learning and development professionals across different sectors in Australia for their perspective and experience.
