Bringing the Hunter Valley to you

Wine tasting

Season’s greetings on behalf of the team here at Xandr. This year’s celebrations will no doubt be different for everyone. With a number of companies still working from home, we thought this year we’d bring the Hunter Valley to your home.

Join Artisan cheesemonger Paul Thompson and Tennille Chalmers Winery Masterclass on two of the best things in life – cheese and wine.

All you need to do is log on, then sit back and relax. You will taste amazing wine and incredible cheese that’s been delivered to your door, whilst learning how regionality, vintage, seasons and provenance all influence the perfect pairing. The session is interactive and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and chat with other attendees.

The Artisan Cheese Room

The Artisan Cheese RoomThe Artisan Cheese Room was established in Manly in 2016 by husband and wife team, Paul and Joanna Thompson.

They are both experienced and passionate about all things cheese and have created a shop which is a true celebration of this unique and utterly wonderful food. They pride themselves on sourcing the best artisan cheeses from around the world, including showcasing the developing Australian farmhouse cheese industry. Cheeses are perfectly maintained within their beautiful cheese room. Our goal is to help our customers to their perfect selection by providing passionate and informative service and by offering guided tastings.

For over 3 years they have facilitated an ongoing and ever changing program of Tasting Events and partnered with Breweries, Gin and Whisky Distilleries and of course, Winemakers from across Australia.

They run monthly Masterclasses for their customers and have built up a very loyal customer base, through their passion for discovering the ultimate pairing. Customers learn about the tastes and terroirs of wine and cheese and how regionality, vintage, seasons and provenance all influence the perfect pairing. Their virtual events are fun, informative and interactive.

Tennille Chalmers

Tennille ChalmersTennille Chalmers will be the winemaker presenting.

Based in Heathcote, Victoria, Chalmers specialise in Italian varietals with a key focus on supporting the sustainability of wines (and vines) for the future.

The combination of unique characteristics from the varieties and sites with mindful, hands-off winemaking leads to authentic expressions which create the common thread across the diverse ranges of wine made by Chalmers.

“The Chalmers family has contributed an enormous amount to warm-climate viticulture, to the cause of alternative grape varieties, to the diversity of Australian wine and to their fellow grapegrowers. The fact that this is truly a family business with no fewer than five family members now involved, gives it extra resonance.” – Huon Hooke
